Saved 40 bytes and 160+ clocks on drawing the PIPES.

(Only useful if you are building from source)

Great write up. I'm pretty sure you can create a wiki page yourself for a dev diary/game page etc. I'll give Dave M a nudge.

Do the two bugs below still exist?

For those that missed the sneak peek at EGX Rezzed (NEC), or the official release at the Acorn and RISC OS show at Wakefield, here is my nearly final version of Carnivale (now with an added e to match the old school (C) renaming).

There seems to be two bugs remaining:

1. If you hit a falling duck, just wrong, the bullet gets left behind.
2. Somehow the palette gets corrupt including the background going white.

Yes, but I was planning to reset the palette every frame and the bullet disappears at end of level, so they shouldn't be show stoppers.

Found the bugs, but they barely detract from the brilliance of what you've accomplished here. The programmer of the Acornsoft port really needs a (cassette) copy of this rammed up his ****

Just adding Carnivale to the software releases page and didn't know how to upload images, so adding it here and then linking to that!

I'm not sure if you managed to add it successfully, but I've added an entry in the RetroReleases page which links to a Wiki page. At some point someone with the power can add a redirect so that http://www.retrosoftware.co.uk/carnivale refers to that page.

If you need help embedding screenshots and things, just post them here and let me know. I can perform the Wiki trickery as required. :D

Thanks, I didn't even get that far, nearly, but I couldn't even add the screen shot.
Will have another go tonight - if I don't get too stuck in to Phoenix

Just had a few games on this. Great conversion! Very smooth and playable.

Best score so far: 13,260

Thanks and good try, but you better keep practicing ;)

I have had a *bit* more practice.
Maybe I will have a look for a bit more memory to make the hi-score table look a bit better.
Did you manage to enter your name before the timer runs out - it resets each time you press fire.
