Hi guys,

I just want to announce another new Acorn Atom conversion ..........

----====[ JOE BLADE!! ]====----

The original Acorn Electron version is converted for the Atom. This game has great graphics, 128 screens and 6 puzzles to solve. It's a nice little game.

I'll upload it soon to the RetroSoftware site, as soon as Samwise added a page .... :wink:
You can already preview the video at:

Kees

What a nice looking conversion, Kees! I suppose the sound and graphics suit the Atom as well as they do the BBC and Electron. :)

What made you choose Joe Blade as your latest conversion?

Hi David,

I always liked the graphics of this game and the resolution fitted nicely in a CLEAR4 Atom screen. This means no time consuming sprite and map scaling ;)
Also the masking/displaying of sprites is done nicely. It has not the fastest framerate (about 10 frames/sec) but that's because the lower 2 rows of the background (256 x 64 pixels) are always copied to the screen.

The game is only about 8 kB code and the rest is graphic/sprite/map storage.

Greetings
Kees

Good to know it's one of your easier conversions. :lol:

Did you consider altering the gameplay at all? I always found the length of time the enemies take to die to be a bit too long.

Yep, you're right because you have to wait untill they are gone if you don't want to decrement your strength. I changed it to 1/4 of the original time now.

Nice one Kees.. Not a game I've ever played before if I'm honest, maybe I should wait for the Atom version to try it out :lol:
