Well, it is finally over. I have now what I consider to be a release candidate for Mountain Panic. It has been a very much off and on project for me over the years, but I was determined to finish a BBC game of my own.

I would like to thank everyone in the community for their continued enthusiasm and support, without which this project would never have seen the light of day.

A physical release date is now in the hands of the Retro Software team.

Now, what's next? :)

Say, it would be great if someone could pick up Tom's White Light project? ;)

Will be ordering a copy of this for sure when it's available.

I've spoke to Tom and there's quite a bit left to do on that, so I might do something of my own again, but a little smaller in scale...

All being well there should be a small preview of Mountain Panic in the next issue of RISC OS magazine Drag N Drop.

WOW!

I can't believe it!

Mountain Panic's been finished since June and the only mention of it is hidden away in this post?!!

Honestly - WTF?

Anyway I'm up for a copy - how do I buy one?

Do you realize this is the first truly original BBC release since the original days (The other retro titles having been originally started back in the day and I don't even think Weenies qualifies - being a clone..) - a tremendous accomplishment!

- PJ

P.S. I guess the 'Duke Nukem' award should be handed to Blurp now - sorry couldn't resist that one :-)

Down to a couple of things really but I think mainly Dave (Moore) wants to release it at this year's play expo. The proper inlay is also not sorted yet, I'm waiting for my mate to come back off his hols to do it for me.

So you should be able to buy it at play expo or maybe order it somehow before, Peter can probably provide further details about that.

Hmm.. Not thought about that before. Are you sure? In that case I feel all sort of warm and fuzzy! :)

I completely understand though, the easiest thing in the world is starting one of these projects, and the hardest is finishing the damn things off. I think I bit off more than I could chew with Panic, and ended up cutting bits out at the end simply to get it finished.

Cheers

Great news - I won't make it to the show - but I'll drop Peter a line and see if I can get a copy.

I think retro's news page should be updated to announce it - nobody's gonna know about it otherwise! I hadn't seen any mention over at StarDot either.

I hear you there - I always think it is much better to release something almost done than striving for 100% perfection that never happens...

Great, hope you enjoy it :)

When I know for sure that it'll be available at Play Expo I'll make a fuss about it, the only reason I haven't done that so far is because technically you can't actually buy it, so it seems a bit pointless to advertise the fact it's merely finished.

Now, where did I leave my assembler...

I did a little piece which was printed in the latest issue of RISC OS mag drag N drop. so it's had a bit of coverage there, and I plan to do a review of it for the same magazine too.

That's really a question for the Retro Software team, but I'd hope so too :)
