I've just uploaded the 1.0 release archive to the Jungle Journey Wiki page:

http://www.retrosoftware.co.uk/wiki/ind ... le_Journey

I thought about adding the corresponding UEF file to the Mercurial repository as well, but I'm a little reluctant to add build products, though it is tiny compared to some of the other binary stuff in there. Plus, I've created a disk image for it as well, and I definitely don't want to add that.

Anyway, I think that just about wraps up this coding adventure. I'll try to look at any bugs that are discovered and maybe add a few notes to the diary about what I've learned during the project.

Have fun playing the game!

As I feared, I found a bug shortly after uploading the archive, so I sneakily updated it and uploaded a new version without increasing the version number. Hopefully nobody downloaded it during the brief time the original archive was available.

David,

I haven't had chance to playtest the release yet, but I spotted this on your Development Diary:

Ironically, I have access to a pair of Voltmace Twin analogue joysticks, but no way of using them until some day in the future when they will be reunited with an Electron and Plus 1.

What you need here is a Retro Adapter with BBC Micro Analogue Connector to connect your Voltmace joysticks up to a PC's USB port. It's exactly what I've been using to test Jungle Journey's joystick support. :)

Paul who's behind it, is known as mojo on the *. forums and has patiently put up with many emails from me to add support for Acorn joysticks in both Windows and Linux. It's an amazing bit of kit! I can't recommend it anymore highly.

Sam.

Interesting. I had thought about making my own adapter for it, but it looks a lot easier to take that route. :D

I guess I'd need to buy the adapter and the right connector for the Voltmace. It looks like the adapter is out of stock at the moment, though I'll certainly think about getting one.

Apparently the latest shipment is currently in Germany, but should be available soon. Dropping Paul an email or a PM will I'm sure get you a helpful response.

OK, had a proper play now and finally got off level 1. Hurrah. :)

It's a really entertaining game to just wander around and explore. I esp. love the snakes ... :)

I confirmed that the joystick support works OK in the release version.

We'll give it another few days for ppl to playtest and then I'll move it from the WIP page to the Releases page, if you want.

Sam.

Thanks. They turned out quite well, though I had hoped that they would move in a more snake-like way.

Sounds good to me. :)

Can't we give it a 'grand' release at Replay? :)

I dunno. How much tablespace and machines are you gonna arrange for us? :)

We've already got four titles to launch! I wasn't even sure I was gonna have room to break out my laptop.

I agree though that it's a damned colourful beasty. I was tempted to suggest a bigger launch / longer demo at the Lass in December so it gets a machine to itself for the weekend ...

Maybe show it later if you've already got four new titles! Adding a new title doesn't give you much more impact and can only reduce the exposure that the other titles get.

I didn't see any December retro events in the calendar on the Lass Web site. Which one are you talking about?

Yeah, don't get DaveM started about the publicity of this one. All events we have a presence at are generally listed in the Stardot forums. Here's the entry for this one:
