Hi people,

A little SWR quesion again.
If I'm correct, a SWR bank goes from &8000 to &C000.
So when I write some data with *SRWRITE to location &B900 on bank 4 and try to read it again with *SRREAD it works fine.
But now I have on my Master also some SWR in bank 0 & 1.
So I tried to write the same info on the same place but then bank 0.
Writing goes well. (well doesn't gives an error message)
But reading gives the error message "Illegal address"

Is there a difference between the slots 4 through 7 and the slots 0 through 3?

And is there a way that I can read an write to slot 0 through 3?

Cheers

Koen

I'm a bit new to this myself, but my understanding is that the cartridge slots (banks 0 - 3) are ROM only. They can be made R/W but a little electric hackery is needed to extend the R/W line up to where it's needed :)

Something along those lines - someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

Hi Martin,

That would be strange....
This because I have 0 - 3 filled with RAM and I can load SWR images into it and run the applications from SWR. (like Exmon II, Basic Editor and much more)
Also writing to an SWR goes well, but reading afterwards does not. :?: :?: :(

So it would be locked RAM when only using SRREAD?

Is it possible to read out the SWR memory with Exmon II?

Cheers

Koen

If you're sure that it's really banks 0 - 3 that you're writing to then no, I guess I'm wrong about them being ROM only. I could have sworn I saw a thread on STH about extending signal lines up through to the cartridge slots. Maybe that was for something else?
