Hey, all.

Word on the street is that there's a two part article starting in Micro Mart next week (possibly the week after), which will cover 8-bit Acorn independent software and, specifically in part two, Retro Software and it's projects.

Thought I'd post it here ... maybe jig up a little forum activity, before we attract a horde of new visitors to the site. ;) Well, here's hoping ...

Sam.

Sounds good! :D

I'll need to keep an eye out for those issues. :)

Kind regards,

Francis.

OK, the first issue - covering the early post-commercial BBC micro / Acorn Electron software scene - is out. Micro Mart issue 1052, 23 - 29 April, is available this week only for the rather bargain price these days of £2 and will be followed up with part two next Thursday (30 April), which will specifically cover Retro Software and its myriad of projects.

Sam could you get me a copy of both please and I'll pay you at the RCM event?

I can't get to a newsagents that'll sell it (I presume it's in the newsagents?)

No problem if it's hassle, I'll live ;)

Dave

and, of course it's in the newsagents! You must've heard of micro mart? Its basically a small ads paper intermixed with articles ...

Sam.

Aha, cheers lad, you're a star!

I have heard of MicroMart, but honestly haven't seen it or heard of it since the days of the micro user and all that lot!

I don't get out much ;)

Got mine too, although couldn't persuade my brother to buy one.

I expect there'll be some new users coming along any day now!

Nice work.

I thought Part 2 was rather good too (well done, Samwise!) but should anyone else want to pick up a copy it's only on-sale for another couple of days.

Damn and blast - anyone got a spare? That's what happens when your piece'o'carp router dies. You end up disconnected from all that matters...

I was floored with a viral infection for the past week and a half, so I missed the second part too.

You should be able to order a back issue however.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Absorbalean is the 'diet' flavour ;)

Thanks Francis - hope you're better now (hope it wasn't the result of eating a few dodgy tacos!). I might have to look into the back issue thing...

There's always (at least) one ...

I don't think Micro Mart offer back issues, I'm afraid.

However, I've received permission for us to reproduce them.

I think the regular Retro Mart author would appreciate it if you could leave him some feedback on his column over at the Micro Mart forum, in penance for missing the print issues ... ;)

Sam.

Nice to see my name mentioned and the screen shot of my BBC Micro Image Converter. :D

I'll need to see if I can track down an issue.

Kind regards,

Francis

Excellent, looks great!

I'm hoping to finish off the iPhone game I've been working on today so should have some more time available for Mountain Panic again very soon.

Didn't see the actuals but absolutely superb - nice one Peter :D

Who is the 'regular Retro Mart author' and I can't see where/how to leave feedback - do we need to start a new forum topic? (I have looked but you know me Sam - easily confused...)

Martin

However, having just read your post in the announcements section I think I've got the
answers to all of the above

Yeah, just start a topic wherever you think suitable and request more Acorn coverage, if you wanna see more ... and let them know ur thoughts on the Retro Mart articles you have seen. They just want a bit of feedback like most of us!

Sam.

Started a Micro Mart feedback thread on the RS article so feel free people to add something encouraging ;)

(My bit sounds completely pants btw so you can't do any worse...)

Great work - reads alright to me. Though I'm not sure you can call it my site - in fact, short of a bit of a testing with a couple of the projects, I haven't really worked on any of 'em. :) Hopefully the second article sheds some light on some of the more active site contributors ...

I would reply to your post, but I'm not sure if commenting on my own piece is really the done thing ... hopefully some of the others who missed the original articles, will follow you up!

Sam.

P.S. Next stop Slashdot? :)
