I have attached a small preview demo of the BCS image format. All test images have been borrowed from DaveE's fine work.

To start the demo just press SHIFT-BREAK and then type in the desired image filename when prompted.

The file sizes and compression ratios (original size is 20kB) are as follows:

ATOM, 7kB (34.94%)
CAT, 9.5kB (47.66%)
SFQUIZ, 10.3kB (51.57%)
WETABIX, 6.9kB (34.37%)
WOKS, 3.5kB (17.5%)

The format is still being developed so the actual compression ratios in the final version will change slightly from what is stated here.

Also the picture viewer used in the demo was programmed in BASIC for proof of concept. A new one will be written in 6502 assembler once the format is finalised.
