It's early stages yet.... Similar to the old Lothorien games but with nice mode 2 graphics. To free up main memory the idea is to store the map and hex sprite data in sideways ram, which would allow the various tables and possibly AI to be stored in normal memory. I think it will be a M128 only deal because of the memory constraints, but the hex code could be useful on a standard beeb as well. The hexsprite code now works with half-character sprite definitions to get a correct overlap of the hexes. Unfortunately this is not an option in swift, so it's all manual coded now.

How are you getting on with this? Still planning on finishing it? Just wondering if you'd like an entry on the WIP page and a forum for it? Sam. |

Got a bit sidetracked lately, but yes, I want to continue this one at some stage. Working title "Bandit Kings for Ancient Acorns" But I think it needs a rewrite of the HEXAROM. Sam, can you move the HEXAROM posts here as well? |

Done. I only left it in the programming forum as I thought some might prefer to keep their technical questions in there and use the game forum for game specific questions. Entirely up to you how you want to use it tho. Sam. |

To force myself to pick this up again I started a development log on the new wiki page. For now just the game outline and the idea how to accomplish this. @Sam, I uploaded a nicer screenshot but for some reason I cannot get it to load on the wiki page. |

The new pic shows up for me here. Are you sure you've completely refreshed your browser? Done Ctrl+ refresh or the Mac equivalent? Sam. |

Ahhh ... I see what you mean, now. Yes, your new pic didn't show up as a thumbnail on the WIP page because you'd overwritten the old screenshot, so it deleted the old thumbnail that the WIP was referencing. You need to preview the new image as a thumbnail to force it to generate an actual thumbnail image. It's a bit convoluted, but the way it works atm is the only way I could get it so that when you click on the thumbnail it goes through to the actual project page rather than just displaying the larger image. I've sorted it all out now. Sam. |
