I was always fascinated by the games made by Ultimate Play The Game but, as an Electron user, I didn't get much of a chance to play them on a real machine. I always thought it was a bit disappointing that they never released their games for the Electron; not even cut down versions. A MODE 5 version of Sabre Wulf would surely have been possible, and a slow version of Knight Lore without all the needless bleeping would have been OK. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to make some kind of Sabre Wulf-like game, just to show that something like that could have been made, although my 6502 coding isn't really all that great. The aim is to create something that's fun to play, with a bit of depth, too. I've attached a screenshot of the current version. I'm using BitBucket to host the code at the moment, but it might be interesting to make it a Retro Software title and have it hosted on this site. What do people think?

Great, get it done and have fun (those are the important things). Let me know if I can be of any help. Richard |

I think I'm close to finishing it, where "close" is defined as "past the point where it's playable but more finishing touches are required." At this point, I'm swerving between wanting to have full artistic direction over how it turns out and recruiting people to draw sprites for it. What's your area of expertise? |

An inspired choice of game/genre to attempt! Always good to see some Electron love, too. Let's see it on the Wiki! |

This does indeed look fab. David, we can set you up with any/all of our resources and I'm sure we'd be delighted to have it released under our label. Do you want to drop me with a PM and let me know what bits we can provide that you'd like to make use of? The usual staples are a forum for discussion, a WIP entry and a wiki page for you to post screenshots, downloads and/or maybe a dev diary or anything else you want. We also have our own Mercurial repository which you're welcome to use, if you want to go the whole hog. We also have a bug tracker as well, tho that's probably overkill. Sam. |

Meanwhile, I'll keep on updating the diary (more a retrospective so far) and maybe that page can be moved later. |

Jungle Journey now has a Retro Software wiki, forum and Mercurial presence you can play with. Give me a shout, if you need any help getting started with them ... Sam. |
