Yes, no arguments on the Spectrum version.
However, Wikipedia suggests there was also an MSX version so I'm going to have a look for that and try it out too.

:) Still, it's given me an idea to try that I probably wouldn't have thought of otherwise. I was trying to get the sound 'right' whereas taking a few liberties with the timing and pauses could make it sound better.

BTW, to get a pause note in the sound buffer, just play a note with a volume of 0 for the required duration.

To get more convincing multi-channel sound the frequencies have to be switched quicker. A machine code routine directly manipulating the sound registers could do a better job than the SOUND command with a duration of 1, which to me still sounds a bit like a ringing phone!

There must surely be some games or demos on the Electron that do this? It's an old and well-known technique.

Yes, I realise that will play a blank note, but the problem I have is getting that to work in that simple program.
I can't think of a way to do that.

Thats sounds like the way it's done on the Spectrum (I'm guessing)

Well, Exile has speech and I guess that it uses a similar process, but I can't think of any games that have this (There's a challenge for you :lol: )

Unfortunately, there's nothing to report since the last update. Haven't had the chance to do any work on it all year. General life stuff getting in the way etc...

It's not abandoned, just postponed until I get more time.
