We're pleased to say that the Centre for Computing History is the proud owners of serial number 000001 of this excellent new game. It's great to see there are still new developments in the retro world. Keep up the good work guys!!
We've already got it catalogued on our website : http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/4676/ZAP!

Good stuff! I wasn't far behind you :)

It's a nice little game, I like the bosses, nice touch.

I'm also looking forward to Krystal Connection, which I also think plays rather well.

I am now the proud owner of tape no. 10. I agree a physical copy to have and to hold is nicer. Especially for a SHMUP on tape, the loading is part of the experience! In this case I'm catching up on the games-buying I didn't get to do before!

The graphics are rich and very smooth, a lot better than I was anticipating. You do have to watch that the enemies don't get level with you as they are fond of launching sideways mines that wipe you out! After managing a high score of 894 I also spent some time making a UEF complete with instructions and inlay scan (below) for putting on my GoMMCs.

Thanks again, Dave and everyone involved!

I own tape #0020 and 5.25" disk #0034. Now I just need a BBC to play them on ;p

I'm the proud owner of tape #2 and 5.25" disk #2 :)
I've managed to convert the tape into an emulator image as I currently don't have a Beeb (I had one a few years ago, but it went BANG!)

I have to say, although I'm not all that good at this game, it's damn addictive. It has that 'pick up and play' factor .... it's not complicated, if it moves, shoot it, if it doesn't move, shoot it anyway!

It's good to see new releases on retro machines ..... I look forward to the next game that appears on the Beeb.

Oh, hell yeah!
I love games on psychical media .... OK, I like all these new gizmos (MMBEEB etc.) but there's something so cool about putting a tape in, typing CH."" and then waiting in anticipation.

Do you still have it, that sounds like the usual (almost most common) fault that can afflict a Beeb. Easy fixed for about a quid *.

* risk of death if not competent with power supplies, (but worth the gamble surely !)

No, I don't have that old buggered Beeb anymore
However, I got a Beeb off a mate recently, so I've been playing Zap on the real deal all this week :)
Unfortunately, I'm not too good at it and need some practice.
