Congrats Matt ... yep, that's the best score I've ever heard of with one exception: when the author had another bash a couple of months back, he managed to top 3000! ;)

How far over 3000 ? not sure if I could get a score that good, surely the author getting the highest score like that doesn't really count does it?

getting over 1000 is hard enough!!
maybe the author knows the 'hac-man' keys, ie Pause, press +RTPDODSASA to get infinite lives/level jump!!

is there any such things/cheats on this game? :?: would not mind seeing 'last level' 23 monster /congratulatory message :o

Hi there,

I finally got my Master set up and tried this game out. It's a very nice game, although I just wish the player's ship was a little quicker at moving! ;)

I got a score of 320 on level 2, but I'll need to have a proper bash at it sometime.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Managed to beat my previous best score on Zap, but it was very hard work, and my arms ache bigtime, but i've managed a score of 2683 on Level 7. Think that' s probably as good as it's going to get , Zap is hard work getting high scores, and I think anyone who gets over 1000 is doing well.

A few pointers for those who want to get a good score, always try and get the pink coloured marbles which come in from the side of the screen then drop down, and also the yellow lozenge things, which go across the screen diagonally, these 2 aliens are worth 10 points each, so always worth shooting them for a score increase.

A couple of other tips, at the end of Level 0 and Level 4 or 5 you get an extra life and always shoot the Blue bonus craft, as the speed up it provides makes all the difference.

Happy Zapping !!

Inspired by Matt's tips, maybe we should have a hints and tips page or forum topic for our games?

Kind regards,

Francis

No idea (and I doubt Jamie could remember either, as he mentioned this months ago).

No, it doesn't. ;)

Table updated (again! ;) ). Btw, are you using a pad or regular keys?

Great idea!

But let's wait for Samwise to get back from the Ukraine(!) before deciding where/how to locate it, eh? :)

Samwise is in the Ukraine :o

He could have popped in for a cup of tea - I'm only next door in Hungaryország! ;)

Using a normal Acorn Risc PC keyboard.

Returned to playing after a few weeks off and managed a new personal best score of 1546 on my first attempt. Very disappointingly I then tried 5 more times and failed to match my initial try.

I'm not sure I'll be able to progress much further, as my reactions are no match for those blindingly fast diagonally whizzing yellow blobs I've started to encounter!

BTW my top tip for a long (Zap!) life is to hold your ship's position quite still for as long as you dare when encountering the evil green aliens as they then seem to fly straight into your bullets kamikaze fashion.

Well done Ant - that certainly eclipses my own personal best by a country mile! ;)

Can you remember what level you got up to?

Hi Dave,

I can't understand why you aren't trying to improve your personal best 24 hours a day. It's not as if you've got huge scale retro events to organize or anything......

Think it was level 5.

Hi guys, thought I'd get a score in, not quite good enough for the top yet though, 2502.
