Neil - thought you might appreciate this pic! (Btw, I might need to loan you my Master Compact for testing, as it turns out that Sparse can [occasionally] exhibit some 'interesting' side effects when played on a Compact!

Thanks Dave - it looks great seeing the game at the show! Hmm I wondered why you played it to above level 9 - Ok, I'm interested in the issues you are seeing with the Beeb Compact? I noticed 'b-em' emulates the compact however I'm unable to load the SSD images so need to look into the changes etc. From my understanding the compact is a M128 with reduced ROM image... I'm just wondering if I'm relocating too low, anyway looking forward to your reply. Right, better go, work is busy, Thanks - Neli |

Specifically, the invaders became invincible at one point - as does your own ship. The only thing that you can shoot at is the mothership. Eventually, this reverts and they can both attack each other again. The invaders also stop advancing down the screen and seem to get re-drawn back over on the top left every so often. Oh, and the sound corruption was so bad, Dave was forced to ask around for the *FX 210, 1 command ... This made the competition a bit unfeasible, unfortunately ... we'll have to re-run that! Sam. |

Hmm I've noticed the sound corruption. As for the invaders and player becoming invincible... I think that's because I didn't think people would get that far into the game. Adding a limit for the invaders starting position and speed - plus reducing the triggering of the sound with the invaders movement should help no end. Shame really, as that section of the game was finished in January and there has been a demo on site since then. There is something to be said for having a testing department. My test team consists really of my daughter, who just laughs and calls me sad (I won't even repeat what she said about ELITE, I've dis-owned her I will start looking into this later today, thanks for the feedback Sam, Neil |
