A great job Peter, you've worked so hard, looks absolutely fabulous.

Ditto, the new site does look good. :)

My only (very, very minor) complaint is I had to change my user name from 'Dreamland Fantasy' to 'DreamlandFantasy' since spaces are not valid characters.

Kind regards,

Francis.

There's a reason for that. :)

phpbb3 allows quite a lot of fancy characters in the usernames, but MediaWiki isn't quite so forgiving and if you create a phpbb3 user and then try to edit the wiki, it could seriously mess up the backend.

I decided to just restrict to plain ol' alphanumeric chars to keep things simple (i.e. I'm lazy). We could risk introducing spaces and/or install the phpbb3 Restrict Usernames mod, if losing the space makes you want to cry.

However, I'm still attempted to adhere to the KISS principle, to avoid tempting fate ...

Cheers for the rest of the good feedback, ever-body ... !

I guess it doesn't really matter now that my user name is changed to FrancisL.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Many thanks to Pete for making all this possible and to DaveM for inviting me. I'm delighted and honoured to have been asked along. This site is very impressive - and very exciting.

If anyone doesn't know me, my name's Dave Jeffery, I'm 37, I'm a Flash/Actionscripter sad muppet anorak type person:

and at the moment I'm slowly working on a sort of Flash Citadel type thing whilst listening to lots of Barclay James Harvest and Kevin Ayers.

What DaveJ said. A lot of effort has been put into this site already. What it will become is up to all of us!

'Spose I should introduce myself: I'm 28 ('young pup', doesn't feel like it) with one Model B, and moderate experience in 6502, ARM, Perl and CRC algorithms. Been pouring my knowledge into the [BeebWiki] mostly and might get around to doing a Sudoku solver this year.

See you around.

Greg
