OK, I've attempted to move the three posts back to useraccount 'Jim', which used to be called 'JamesW'. The other account is disabled.

I did this manually tho, which is asking for trouble. Jim, let me know if you notice any problems. We can easily reset passwords and change the usernames of accounts, so drop us a line if that's needed. I get scared everytime I have to look into the database ...

No no no - other way around, mate.

We need to kill off the JIM account (which had only been used to make a few posts) and retain the JamesW account (which follows the recommended convention for usernames and has been used for several posts).

I'd already deactivated the JIM account, reset the password for JamesW and emailed James the new password.

Not sure where we stand now?!

Edit: actually - if we just rename JamesW to something else, then rename JIM to JamesW, will that sort it?

You've misread mine. The original account is in use. But it's been renamed Jim - I assume that's what prompted all this - that James wanted a new username ...

Actually, I'm not sure why a second account was created (I assumed lost password?!).

Anyway, let's wait for James to email us back and tell us exactly what he wants, then we'll tidy up this thread.

Actually, I've just reverted the name back to JamesW.

I've just remembered it will mess the wiki up royally, if we allow usernames to be changed - that's why I didn't enable it in the first place.

If he wants a new username, I think it would be preferable for him to create a new account. As he did!
