Guys, Retro Software has been running for a while now and is pretty much feature complete as far as the original brief went ... Are there any other features you think would help this community? Forget about whether or not they're feasible, I just thought this thread could be a nice dumping ground for discussing brainstorm ideas. Here's two big ideas to kick off ... Bugzilla - could be used for reporting and keeping track of bugs and feature requests in software Subversion repository - including a web view, for allowing multiple people to contribute to a project. Only really useful for open source projects. I think the first one is probably more appropriate than the latter (and I have no idea whether our hosters would help us with the latter), but does anyone think they would make use of either of them? Any other ideas? Or is the current site "enough" for the size/number of the current projects? All feedback appreciated! Sam. |

I like the Bugzilla idea. I do have something similar here as a spreadsheet for my own purposes, but an online version would be better and easier for people to post bug reports. It's also nicer I think for people to see what bugs are fixed and those that are outstanding. Kind regards, Francis. |

I'm not sure how feasible Bugzilla itself would be because it may require our hosters to perform most of the installation, but we could probably get away with a simpler product like phpBugTracker which might do the job as well. Would anyone else use a n online bug tracker? Sam. |

OK, I'm thinking Mantis might fit the best. They have a demo site, if people want to have a play with it and feedback whether they think they would use it. We don't want to add bloat for the sake of it, though, so if you don't think you'd use it, please let us know that as well! Sam. |

Well, it's been a very fiddly job, but I've finally got Mantis in ... If you boys want to sign up and have a look around, we can see what it's capable of. I've created two projects atm - one for SWIFT and one for the BBC Micro Image Converter. I assigned two categories to both of them - one for bugs, one for feature requests. We can break those down further, if you want to provide me a list of how you'd like to see them differentiated. *phew* Sam. |

Just had a very very quick look. Looks good. I know I've got 1 or perhaps two bugs that I know about that I can enter (not got notes to hand at mo though, will do tomorrow). Not being familiar with this, do I need my privileges raising for Swift so I can close out bugs etc. ? |

Hahaha. I love the way you wrote that, as if I have any clue how it works. But, yes, I needed you to create a user account before I could make you a manager for the SWIFT project. I've done that now, so I *think* you should now have full privs to do what you need to do. Have a look around and read the manual etc. Come back to me if you want to add more categories or if you think there's any other config I've neglected. When we're happy with these two projects, I'll add some of the others and see whether anyone other than you and Francis is interested in using it for their projects. Sam. |

I think I will use it, just to keep people informed about bugs in a more controlled way than the Wiki. Will do some work with it tomorrow. |

OK, you're now a manager of the BBC Micro Image Converter project, Francis, and you're both reporters for each others projects (so you should be able to raise bugs). Let's see how we go. Let me know when you're comfortable with it and we can look at adding some of your other projects to it. Sam. |

Is it just me that the 'title bar' menu is askew for now? Now that 'Bug Tracker' is on there it's shifted the 'Help' and 'Contact Us' to the next line and it looks a bit sloppy. Happened on Flock and FireFox 3 |

Probably not just you. I noticed something similar at work. It'll have to wait until tonight for me to look into it. It worked OK for Firefox 2 under Linux and IE 7 yesterday, but obviously it still needs further tweaking. Sam. |

Just a thought, perhaps you could drop the word 'Retro' from 'Retro WIP' and 'Retro Releases' to create a bit more room. The fact that these are retro should already be implied by the very name of the site. Kind regards, Francis. |

Wait a minute - you guys have done a Shift+F5 (Firefox) / Ctrl+F5 (Iinternet Explorer) to reload the stylesheet, haven't you? I've just noticed that's where my issue was. Can't reproduce your error anymore ... Sam. |
