Do you mean with the Linux version? The Linux version doesn't work.

If you mean with the Windows version then you will need to use a program like BBC Explorer (available here: http://www.stairwaytohell.com/essentials/BBCExplorer201.zip) which can inject the BBC screen dump file into a disk image suitable for BeebEm, etc.. There are other programs like BBC Explorer available, but this is one I tend to use.

Kind regards,

Francis.

He must mean the Windows version, as that Linux preview isn't capable of spitting out a beeb image, afaict.

I've split the question out to it's own thread, so it makes a bit more sense.

Cheers. Have managed to load scanned pictures into my BBC Emulator. All I have to do now is make them smaller in size somehow. :?

The ability to scale the images to any size is a planned feature for a future version of BBC Micro Image Converter. Until then you will have to make do with copying and pasting your image into a larger image at the scale you need.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Hi. I've just discovered this excellent program and I've been having tremendous fun converting images. However, it would be nice to be able to load these images into an electron emulator (and perhaps one day a real electron) but I don't have the foggiest idea how to go about this (I though I might hijack this thread and ask).

I've never used an electron disk system (just have a vanilla Electron and tape deck) so I don't even know where to begin. Is it a simple case of saving the image as a BBC screen dump and dragging the file onto a disk image using BBCexplorer 2.01 or is there something more to it? I think I've done this but loading it into ElectrEm brings me no joy (it doesn't autoload like the sample galleries). Am I missing a vital stage? Some code I need to type in to get it to work? Any help would be appreciated (assume I know nothing about Electron disk filing systems!)

I've never used an Electron emulator myself, but maybe someone else can help. Failing that you could maybe try something like BeebEm instead.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Tom,

The Electron uses Acorn's Advanced Disc Filing System (ADFS), as opposed to the DFS which is more common with the BBC Micro. Single-sided DFS disc image files are usually .ssd files and this is what BBC Explorer produces. You need a program like Jon Welch's ADFS Explorer to create an ADFS disc image file (.adf). You should be able to drag and drop your image files into a .adf disc image which can then be loaded into ElectrEm.

Once you've got access to the file in ElectrEm (use *CAT to catalogue the disc image from the ADFS filing system), I assume you need to *LOAD the image from the correct MODE. You may need to specify the correct load address, if it isn't set correctly - you'll probably get more help about Electron / ElectrEm-specific questions on the ElectrEm Yahoo! Group.
