Oh Noooooooo! They've finally brought me out of retirement Actually it was more of a 'sabbatical' on which I was learning more about RISC OS programming -- which I still am learning because I am concerned to save the world from Microsoft domination I was the one guilty as charged for the likes of WEENIES and EGGHEAD IN SPACE a few years back. There will a new BBC game or two in the pipeline so watch this space. Meanwhile you might like to visit my BBC pages: http://www.c.r.dewhurst.freeuk.com/bbc/index.htm |

Good to see you here Christopher and with RISC OS. May we ask what kind of games are you developing? |

Hi, Chris. Do you know if it's still possible to obtain your old Chronosoft games? I believe some people over at StairwayToHell have tried, but Chronosoft don't appear to sell them anymore (there's supposed to be an emulator version of Egghead in Space, but there is no Add to Cart link). Are they still supposed to be available from them? Or have you since re-released them yourself, like Andrew W did with Domination? I ask because we have a section on the Retro Releases page where we link to software written post 2000. We'd be happy to add a link to a shop or a download, if any of your old stuff is still available. Whilst I'm on the subject of your old games. Was the Weenies cassette (which claims Electron compatibility) ever tested on an actual Electron? retro_junkie over at STH had real problems (which didn't appear to be due to a duff tape) and had to give up on the end. Apparently it appears to load fine from disk, but not cassette. I'm sure he'd be grateful if you could confirm or deny whether it was ever tested ... Good to have you on board! Sam. |

Sam - both games are available from Christopher's website. Just having a look at Cronosoft - Jonathan Caudwell is impressive, he's just released a shoot em up games designer for the ZX following his platform game design. What happened to BBC Reaxion - does anybody know? Somebody said they were almost finished writing it as I recall |

AndrewW, umm .. can you be more specific? I couldn't see them on Christopher's website. Reaxion was a project by STH's JIM. It was apparently 80% finished, when he put it on hold. A thread over at STH encouraged him to pick it up again in June last year, but I don't think we've heard anything since. He posted his email address for any enquiries, so I'm sure he'd be happy to hear from you, if you want more information. Sam. |

There's a disc icon for Weenies which leads to "no found" but no, sorry, there's no apparent link for Egghead. Christoper? Isn't JIM working on Two Towers now? |

Ah, yes - he didn't bring his avatar with him, so I didn't put 1 + 1 together. You could ask him through this forum instead, then! Sam. |

AndrewW: well, that is naturally top secret but planned is a conversion and a games designer. Samwise: it is possible that EGGHEAD IN SPACE and WEENIES will be re-released but before that happens I would like to see a couple of new releases of my own. This will also give us the time to test the games thorougly on more BBC and Electron configurations than we had access to before (hopefully as many configurations as possible!) AndrewW: the disc on the website is a support disc for designing zones for WEENIES, not a disc of the game itself. But thanks for bringing the dead link to my attention -- it's now fixed. SteveO: see the thread under Development Tools | BBC Sprite Designer. I wrote a simple (read VERY simple i.e. single tasking at the mo) application to convert RISC OS sprites to BBC ones. I am trying to guage how many use RISC OS for BBC programming and if there is demand for such a tool. JeffreyL: steady on -- I would say that about my BBC skills not my RISC OS ones (but I'm working on them!) |

I think Chris has written programming articles for Electron User Group as well with relevance to games. |

Hello Chris, Nice to see you on the forum. You might remember me, I'm the one who probably put Cronosoft off releasing any more Acorn titles Btw I also spoke briefly to Jon C at Retro Fusion but we didn't hit it off. --Greg |

Does this mean we might get a version of Weenies for a tape-only elk? |
