Hi all, after posting about something I have in mind over at stairwaytohell I've been pointed in the direction of this forum. My post there: Quote: Hi everyone, my first computer was an electron and I've always had a bit of a soft spot for it. I did quite a bit of programming as a kid and dabbled in a bit of assembly. I always wanted to get something going in 3D and inspired by elite I got some wireframe shapes rotating on the screen very very slowly. That was a long time ago and since then I've had times of no programming and then moved onto more capable hardware and learned a bit about software rendering and stuff. One of the things I've picked up, I think can be applied to the electron but I probably need people more versed in 6502 assembly than myself to get the most out of it. Anyone up for writing Doom on the electron? At the moment I don't really have plans for a full game, it's more just a proof of concept and whether or not it could work well enough to be used for a game. So is this the right place? |

You might want to drop Thomas Harte a PM (who's also on this forum) as he made a start on a 3D engine for the Electron some time back. But I'm guessing (from the lack of posts) that he hasn't had time to progress it. |

Thanks. I've just had a quick look through the thread on that and is very interesting. What I have in mind though is quite different, the results are more like a raycaster used in early doom-like games but with a different method of generating the image, on the electron there won't be any texturing though, if it even works at all. |

I love the fact your primarily thinking Electron, doesn't get enough attention, some just see them as key switch donors for Masters... not mentioning any names |

Welcome to Retro Software Alexi - I'm glad you made it over here. There are some really hot programmers here. And then there are people who do colouring in. Badly. (Me.) But I do hope you'll find being here useful. Dave |

I'm pretty sure your colouring in can't be worse than mine. As for coding, I'm going to try to put something together myself at first as a sort of proof of concept to show what I'm trying to do but will no doubt need some help. If that shows any promise then it can be taken further. |
