I just wanted to say hello to everyone as discovering this forum has made me very excited.

I love computers. I started an interest in them when my dad bought one for the family. Though I was the only one who ended up using it was me. It was an Acorn Electron; I started in Basic and progressed to assembly mnemonics (machine code) on the Electron & BBC. I was way ahead in class and ended up with an O level for my efforts I have used assembly language on the Atari ST, and have used Blitz Basic on the Amiga 1200 and wrote a few programs on that too. I have since then been studying and using the PC. I know how to upgrade/install components from the actual main chip to installing a hard drive , some networking knowledge, use of the internet and its services.Because of advancing technology, I left programming them to building them and fixing them. I am always the person my friends ask if they need help on a system crash, Bios problems or basically anything related to computers.

I have gained much technical experience of computers over the past number of years, both as part of my course at college, and my own personal interest.  I have experience of using all popular platforms including windows 95-Me, windows 2000 and XP.

I have been into computing and all its tech since I was 12 and studied different subjects in it (officially and unofficially) and in September 2004 I went to college to study a for a year for my A+ in IT systems support and passed in June 2005!

I can install components from the processor chip to external speakers. I have extensive knowledge of programming (mnemonics /assembly language -6502 processor and BASIC). I have dabbled in machine code on 68000(16-BIT) and Z-80 (8-BIT) although in not as much depth as the BBC MICRO 6502 chipset).

Mainly I have concentrated on installation, upgrading, repairing and helping others with PCs since .In my recent years, and have helped many friends with their problems (and solve many of them) and now have chosen the IT Technician career. I am always learning about new technology, and the idea of a good book is Scott Mueller’s upgrading and repairing PC’s (My PC bible!)

I see all problems as a challenge and don’t stop until I get results. There is always a solution to every problem.

I have always wanted to start back programming again (I used to do it for fun but knew the BBC Micro inside out). The last time I was using a BBC I was developing a 100% pure machine code game. But as it was 1993 , the internet was non existent to the general public and nothing like this forum/website was available to get real enthusiasts together. The Beeb as far as I could see was dead.

I will probably be a little rusty trying to remember all those great techniques I learnt 15 and over years ago lol . I have since lost ALL work that I had made making this task harder but I am here to help and maybe this place will bring my skills flooding back.

One challenge for me, on a 32k RAM BBC was memory restrictions , trying to assemble machine code , in memory and keep the program intact. I used to save my work to disc every run , overlap into screen memory then move the code back as far as I could go then run it(overwriting the mnemonics) . Well at least that's what I remember.

So you got a problem. I am here to solve it. Because that’s what I do!
Computers are my passion.

Sorry this post is long but I am really loving it here :P

Welcome to RS Conrad :D

You're amongst friends and very definitely amongst experts in the world of Beeb games writing. I have learned an awful lot from these guys 8-)
