... it's what the world has been waiting for. :)

Kees has excelled himself by producing a port of that game which is unofficially synonymous with Acorn computers but which, until now, has never reached the lowly Acorn Atom before.

I'm referring, of course, to the amazing Chuckie Egg. Kees has managed to create an amazingly faithful adaptation of the game. In order to fit the Atom's smaller resolution, the traditional levels have been slightly modified to fit. With my other hat of Chuckie Egg Professional on, Kees was gracious enough to let yours truly tinker around with his original layouts, to the point where I think it's fair to say he's created an amazingly faithful port, which actually benefits from the smaller levels to create an even tighter game than the original. You'll be hard-pushed in your first few goes to get as far as you might on the original BBC Micro / Electron versions, as the smaller level layouts make it significantly harder in the later levels to get past the Mother Duck and the hens!

Folks, if you haven't already done it this weekend, pull out your standard Atom expanded to 32 KB RAM or setup an emulator! Like no other game ever created, this is pure, unadulterated Chuckie Egg fun!

More detail, screenshots and all the image downloads are available here:

Yet again, source code for Kees' new port is available for download.

We'd be delighted to hear feedback on it in the Atomic Chuckie Egg forum. Feedback from the community is always a big encouragement to our hobbyist developers to stick it through to the end of their projects.

Finally, the wait is over ... no wonder Braben is thinking it's time he re-visited Elite ... :)

Sam.
