Heres a screenshot from an adventure game I wrote in the early 90's, the game was in a fully working state, just need to pull out the correct version. I'm not sure if this counts as new development as it is pretty much developed but The code is pretty straightforward so I'd be happy to post it if it helps others with their development.

Be good to give this a play when you get the right version

Looks a bit like the type-in that A&B Computing forgot to publish. Is it based on anything written by Steve Lucas? ;-)

Here it is, this is the "slightly-remastered" version as I found a few things that needed correcting although I avoided any big changes. Its an .ssd inside the attached zip. It was originally written in 1989.

The parser isn't what it should be but it is still playable. Here are some clues:

To enter/leave vehicles do: ENTER <name> or LEAVE <name> also DRIVE <direction>
To buy things do BUY <name>

If you want to work with the coca-cola just refer to it as CAN

Remember to MILK COWS

There is money in the game, but not implemented in a sophisticated way.

Edit: SSD download now available from the Farmyard Fun wiki release page.

Removed .ssd which did not include the required GPL text

Mark,

Would you like me to create you a wiki page to host this, so it's easier for ppl to find?

If so, is this a final release or are you planning to continue to work on it (i.e. whether the entry should go under Retro Releases or Retro WIP)?

Sam.

Hi, that would be great. Excluding bugs, that is the final first version, a complete game in itself, However I did start an extended version but that is too incomplete to play.

So shall we say that is complete and if the extended version ever saw the light of day that can be a sequel.

I believe that counts as our first bona-fide Retro Software release, then!

Now, who's got the ticker tape and party poppers??

OK,

You now have the first entry on the Retro Releases page.

Mark, have you seen this discussion thread? Basically, it's about software licensing. Given your adventure is in BASIC, that means you're giving away your source code too. Not that it's a big deal given the age of the platform, but do you want to attach a license or any conditions to your game? If you do, either post it here and I'll add a note or just edit the wiki page yourself (see Help page for how to use the wiki).

Sam.

Cool!, Hopefully we will see software from other developers in the near future. :)
