Since the first idea of this site, ive been working on a new game, Ive been at it for a couple of months now. In the style of Soccer Boss and Football Manager but bang upto date with all the new things in football. Ive been mainly working on a neat database structure to store all the data, Ive got it working fairly secure and fast, ive also got some seperate routines for calculating the vast amount of stats involved. Should have some screenshots in a couple of months, and probally a beta version in about 4-6 |

Wonderful idea, Paul! Would you be willing to release it via the Retro Software label? If so, let me know and I'll create a new forum entry + make you a mod (and maybe Peter would be kind enough to do the needful re: a wiki entry?) |

DaveM wrote: (and maybe Peter would be kind enough to do the needful re: a wiki entry?) *bangs head on keyboard* It's a wiki! You don't need me, or anyone else for that matter, to create a new wiki page. Just edit (click link at bottom of page - check the Help page) the Retro WIP page with a new entry (copy the entries already there) and add a link to a page describing the new project. It'll work best if the person running the project maintains that particular page. Granted, there aren't any pages for any of the Retro WIPs at the moment, to copy from, so - if we're really stuck - I can knock up a template for one of them which could be copied, but it really requires some content from one of them, e.g. a detailed description or some mock screenshots, unless you want yet another page of latin! Sam. |

Hmm maybee at some point, not used to making wiki entries. The forum entry would be nice, (Can I just do this myself, by editing the page?). Ive actually got two games in production, one being the footy game, the other is a text/graphic adventure. The latter I hope to be able to take advantage of an enhanced Electron with 64k. I started on the footy game, but have spent the last two weeks on the adventure, again just data store routines at the moment, but it does look good. Once ive got something to show, ie. some screenshots Ill get you to create a forum entry, thats if I cant do it myself. |

PaulD wrote: Hmm maybee at some point, not used to making wiki entries. The forum entry would be nice, (Can I just do this myself, by editing the page?). Unfortunately not. The site is made up of two sections - this forum and then everything else is part of the wiki (incl. all the other pages listed in the menu bar at the top). You can use your forum username/password to log into the wiki as well (go to the front page and click LOG ON at the top). Once you're logged in, every wiki page (i.e. any page but the forum) has an "Edit" link at the bottom. Click that and you will see the code behind the page - basically text, with a few special characters to italic or embolden text/headers. The one thing you can't create on the site, though, is forums, because we need to keep a bit more control over those to avoid spamming bots, members maliciously deleting posts and the like. If you can come up with a pair of working titles for your project, we can knock up the forums for you and I'll create you a pair of wiki pages you can play with, just like the other two listed Retro WIPs - it really is very easy to use a wiki page to keep a note of progress. Let us know the working titles, and I'll post you some more notes to get you started - I'll be surprised if you're not comfortable with editing the wiki in less than 15 minutes ... Sam. |

Thanks, I had a quick look at the two pages allready there and they seem to look pretty easy to knock up. As for titles I havn't got a title for the footy game yet. The graphic / text adventure is going to be called 'The Fisherman's Quest'. This is progressing faster than the footy game, (which is proving harder than I thought). I should have some screenshots of the adventure game maybee next week. At the moment, all you can do is walk around reading the different location discriptions, so theres not much to look at. |

OK, well there's now a wiki page and a forum for The Fisherman's Quest. You can edit the wiki page and upload screenshots, preview releases (archive them in ZIP files before you upload) and even link to YouTube videos, if you want. You're also a moderator for that forum. If you make more progress and come up with a working title for the footy game, drop us a note in the feedback forum, and we can do the same for that one. There's lots of Help documentation for the wiki if you click on the Help / FAQ links, and you can also cut and paste code from other pages. Shout up if you have any trouble with it ... Sam. |
