Hi there,

I'm just running Swift for the first time, but I always seem to get the following (or similar) error messages:

Access violation at address 004CD74D in module 'Swift.exe'. Read of address 0000001C.

This happens whenever I create a new project or open an existing project.

I'm running this on Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

Kind regards,

Francis

Unfortunatly I've not been able to test on Vista or any x64 bit archetecture.

I'm surprised that there's an issue though as I'm not doing anything flashy.

I've got a finished new version that you can try if you want but it's not been been tested very much and it needs a tutorial adding. I can supply you with a copy if you wish see if it cures it.

If not then I'm a bit stuck as I've no access to Vista for testing and without access the bug may be quite hard to pin down.

If you PM me your email address I'll forward you a copy of the unreleased latest version.

Since I reported the initial problem I've notice that I get similar 'Access violation' messages coming up when I click on the 'Add New Item to project' button.

I'll check Swift on my Windows XP x64 machine to see if it is a 64-bit issue or a Vista issue.

Kind regards,

Francis.

I get the exact same error messages appearing on my Windows XP 64-bit system.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Thanks Francis,

I'll have to check but we've some fairly new servers at work that might be 64bit. If so I'll try it out on them if they are.

Just to rule something wrong at my end out I tried running Swift on my laptop (Windows XP Pro 32-bit) and I still get the same error messages. :(

Maybe I am doing something stupid or perhaps I am missing a dependency?

Kind regards,

Francis

I also get the same error message here running on Vista so it looks like a bug in the program.

Yes, I've installed on a system here that didn't have it on before and it's giving the same issues. Seems to be only on fresh installs that it's happening, not when it's been succesfully running previously. Which is one scenario I've not been checking

Should have a fix out in next day or two.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Steve

I've sent Francis the latest build and hopefully it'll pass his tests on both his systems. It's working OK for me on a new install now.

Jon : Had you set up any assemblers in your environment and if so had you set one for the new project ?

I had followed your tutorials using the earlier version of Swift so the environment was already set up to use P65.

I can verify this by running the program, going to Environment->Assemblers and it says P65 for the current assembler.

Clicking Apply produces another access violation through at address 0x004e4924.

If I then go to File -> New Project, type a new project name and click save, it comes up with the access violation at address 0x004cd74d.

Yes, sorry Jon, there was more than one error, all fixed in latest build that Francis has which I will release in next day or so to everyone else.

Thanks for your help in testing Francis.

Sorry this has not yet been released. It has been completed but I've not got any time at the moment to actually test it in practice. Hopefully will get some time this weekend. If anyone wants an unreleased copy to play with then just email me and I'll send one.
